Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To hire a vehicle from Leyland, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with potential additional fees for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence relevant to the chosen vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Customers must present valid identification, proof of their current address, and acceptable payment details, including a security deposit. Any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.

Booking and Payment Process

• Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Leyland office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed, requiring your signature for acknowledgment. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please inform us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in extra fees. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during the rental, in addition to an administration fee.

5. Coverage and Responsibility

• All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to assess these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except when additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. Please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for precise information. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle

• The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any risky behavior. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it is not intended for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or driving outside designated geographical boundaries without prior permission is unacceptable.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Restrictions

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Leyland Car Hire assumes no responsibility for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.

10. Term Adjustments

Leyland reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Modifications take effect immediately upon being published on our website. Ongoing use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
